Event Details:
Date: Tuesday, May 5, 2009
Time: 7:00-9:00pm
Location: Offices of D.E. Shaw
Address: 120 West 45th Street (between 6th & 7th Avenues), 39th floor

Session Overview:
The concept of centered leadership arose from a multi-year study of women leaders by McKinsey & Company Director Joanna Barsh.  Seeking to explain how successful women build sustainable careers, Barsh and her colleagues discovered a cluster of capabilities and tactics that became the model for centered leadership: meaning, framing, connecting, engaging and energizing.  Centered leadership has been thoroughly vetted and refined with input from more than 100 top women leaders from around the world and the best thinking from psychologists, developmental biologists and organizational experts.

At this session, Ms. Barsh will share some of her research on Centered Leadership and discuss how women in Private Equity can apply some of the findings to build their own success as leaders.
